commUnity+ student goes from study to Awards stage

An education course at community+ can set you up for a great career pathway. No one knows this better than Salahaldin Muslem.

Salah was named as a winner at the 2026 Learn Local Awards. These Awards were hosted by the Victorian Government and the Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) Board and recognised Salah as the statewide winner of the Learn Local Pre-accredited Learner (Skills for Work) Award.

It has been an enriching journey for Salah, who has leapt from strength to strength to lead up to this moment.

When he came from Syria in 2024 with his family, he was ready to create a new pathway.

He completed a range of Learn Local and Settlement Language Pathways to Employment and Training (SLPET) courses with commUnity+, including Job Readiness, Introduction to Australian Workplaces, Develop Your Career and Conversational English.

Through his determination and hard work, he built skills in English language, digital tools and employability, setting him up well for his current position working as an Assistant Store Manager with Dulux.

We are so immensely proud of his hard work and dedication that has helped him achieve his goals. Congratulations to Salah on this outstanding achievement.
